Laboratory Gardening: An Activity Book
Through the years, Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) have made their way into the foods we consume nearly everyday. Agribusinesses have spent more than a decade developing crops that are heartier, virus resistant, cheaper to produce and ultimately more profitable, but at what cost? Laboratory Gardening explores and explains this phenomenon that has been kept out of the public realm for so many years. Each page explains how a different food item has been modified, and offers the chance for the viewer to construct a food “cube” of that item. By the end of the book, the viewer has constructed a variety of their own foods while digesting information that allows them to become a more conscientious consumer. The Tyvek cover detaches and can be folded into a box which neatly houses all of the food cubes while retaining general information and resources about GMOs in the United States.
